The Packaging Manager heads a department responsible for safely packaging innovative brands in multiple packaging formats while adhering to rigorous quality standards. Reporting to the Plant Operations Manager, the Packaging Manager develops and leads strategic initiatives that support overall company goals while managing their cost center and reducing waste through continuous improvement. The packaging manager is responsible for several key performance indicators of the brewery, including the overall efficiency of the equipment, OEE.
What will you do
* Leads a team of over 40 employees to create and maintain a culture of continuous improvement focused on safety, quality, efficiency and waste reduction
* Manage, supervise and develop a cross-functional team of packaging employees; including team building, coaching and building respectful and meaningful relationships
* Develops and implements the mission, vision and strategic plan of the Packaging department
* Supervises all bottling, canning, keging and repackaging operations of the packaging department
* Hiring, evaluation and disciplinary measures of employees of the department
* Performs managerial responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, applicable state laws and OSHA regulations
* Support and optimize maintenance and production plans on multiple high speed packaging lines
* Collaborates with peers to achieve KPI goals and develop short and long term goals aligned with Sierra Nevada business goals
* Provide technical expertise and direction for packaging material specifications and equipment designs, layout, installation and start-up
* Creates the department’s budget while tracking expenses and usage
Please apply if you have
* Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as engineering or food science OR any combination of education and / or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been acquired.
* 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent required
* 3 years of team leadership experience required
* 5 years of relevant experience in the manufacture of beverages and / or foods preferably
